175th Gala Golf Day

Heritage Wall Opening Ceremony

The club held the official opening of the new Heritage Wall created for the 175th year. Paul Levy, 40th US PGA President, visited to perform the opening ceremony.

Thornton Trophy

The Thornton Trophy final took place yesterday (Sunday, Sept. 17) over the Championship Course between Carnoustie and the New Taymouth. After an excellent days golf, Carnoustie came out on top.

Victoria Cup Result

The Annual Challenge between Carnoustie Golf Club and Victoria Golf Club took place over the last two Saturdays (September 2nd and 9th, 2017). The final result was: Victoria -4 Carnoustie 2.

The trophy that resides at Carnoustie Golf Club will be displayed the ‘wrong-way up’ to show that Victoria GC hold the trophy. Again!

last Sunday with a Stableford score of 38 points.

 

9-hole Pairs Championship

Club members Dave Bond and Jerry Husband entered a Scottish qualifier for the American Golf 9 hole Pairs Championships at the Torrance Course, Fairmont Hotel, St Andrews, on July 18, 2017.

Being the leading qualifiers with 21 Stableford points, they now progress to the National Finals which take place at the Belfry from Sept 6-8. They play two nines on the Brabazon Course and the top 4 pairs over these two rounds progress to a play-off for the overall title of British Champions on Sept. 8th. The winners of the title earn themselves an all-inclusive trip to Mauritius in October.

Angus County News

Carnoustie Golf Club’s Andy Fyfe, whose wife only recently gave birth to a baby daughter, won the Angus County Summer Meeting on Sunday, July 16th, at Piperdam with a level par 71. This follows on from Andy winning the Angus County Matchplay Championship, beating fellow club member Will Porter in the final.

175th Anniversary Book Launch and War Memorial Re-dedication

Carnoustie Golf Club held the  175th Anniversary Book launch and War Memorial Re-Dedication Ceremony in the newly-refurbished Clubhouse on Sunday, July 2, 2017. Around 150 people attended these events and members who collected their books were able to have them signed by the book’s author, Donald Ford, and Carnoustie Golf Club’s overseas historian David Mackesey.

The Rev. Dougal Edwards conducted an excellent service outside the Club, with contributions from a bugler playing the Last Post, and a piper playing Flowers O’ the Forest. The Carnoustie branch of the Royal British Legion provided a Colour Party.

Open Final Qualifying

Congratulations to Carnoustie Club members Keir McNicoll and Will Porter, who scored 2 under par 70s at Panmure to reach Final Qualifying for this year’s Open Championship.
